Conan and Marcois rescue Taramis from Salome's dungeon.; Constantius has Conan nailed to a cross in the desert. Conan is later rescued by Olgerd, leader of a band of outlaws.; Constantius and his army meet Conan and his army in the desert outside Khauran.; Taramis learns that her twin sister is alive and has managed to take her place on the throne of Khauran.; Seven months later, with Salome's impersonation of Taramis complete, she and Constantius have been ravaging the city of Khauran.; Conan takes control of the army that Olgerd had gathered and prepares to attack Kauhran.; Salome, posing as Taramis, orders the Khauran army to disband and turn control of the city over to Constantius and his men, but Conan refuses her order. The army is slain, and Conan is taken prisoner.; Marcois learns that Taramis is still alive and being held in the dungeon by Salome.; Conan gets his revenge on Constantius.
